A team of Jesuit school alumni led by Fordham will partner with New York Cares to participate in this spring's New York Cares Day. As part of this annual city-wide effort, teams around New York will work on projects in local parks, preparing these cherished public spaces for spring by clearing brush and leaves, repainting benches and buildings, and pulling weeds

Georgetown University Club of Houston

The Jesuit Values Committee of the Georgetown University Club of Houston Invites Jesuit alumni in Houston, TX to volunteer with Catholic Charities at "The Food Fair" Service Day on Saturday, March 19 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Non-perishable food donations will be accepted. This is a family friendly event where volunteers will assist with the sorting and distribution of food to those in need. RSVP to: georgetown.clubofhouston@gmail.com.

 

Le Moyne College
Saturday, April 16, Syracuse, NY and Reston, VA
This spring, Le Moyne College will host its annual “Dolphins Dive in to Serve,” a campus-wide and alumni service day in Syracuse, NY, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will serve those in need at various sites throughout the Syracuse community or participate in a family-friendly “behind-the-scenes” service project on campus. Service will conclude with lunch in Le Moyne’s LaCasse Dining Center (located in the Campus Center). Transportation to volunteer sites will be provided by Le Moyne College and site locations will be confirmed in advance of the service day.

In Reston, VA, Jesuit alumni are invited to join Le Moyne alumna, Mary Kelleher-Crabtree '84, to help prepare and serve dinner to residents of the Embry Rucker Community Shelter on Saturday, April 16 from 3:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Loyola Marymount University

Join the LMU community for the LMU Day of Service project at the LMU Westchester campus. This service project will support the 39th Annual Special Games BIG DAY program. Special Games is a student-run, non-profit organization founded in 1977 that sponsors a day of celebration for the mentally and physically challenged of the Los Angeles community. Volunteers will be able to support in various capacities throughout the day including, but not limited to: preparation and handout of beverages and lunch/snacks; joining the Cheer Squad to root for athletes during the entrance parade; assisting with arts & crafts projects; and facilitating sporting activities.

Loyola University Chicago

Make a difference in the Chicago community and volunteer with Loyola University Chicago alumni at one of these service activities on Saturday, April 30:

Urban farming to support local neighborhoods: 11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
After taking a tour of Chicago's Urban Farm, volunteers will help with a number of guided farm tasks (e.g. planting, weeding, harvesting, or cleaning up the land).

Assembling healthy lunch bags for local homeless: 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

In partnership with #HashtagLunchbag, volunteers will work in small teams to pack lunch bags by assembling sandwiches, snacks and beverages, and including personally handwritten notes of inspiration. After lunch bags have been packed, volunteers will have the opportunity to visit the recipient organization, Sarah’s Circle (a transitional housing program for women), to deliver the bags, share meals and participate in an activity with the clients.

Join Marquette alumni and friends for a day of service at Augustus Tolton Academy in partnership with the Big Shoulders Fund to support Chicago-area schools. Service work will include painting, cleaning and organizing. Light breakfast will be served.

On April 30, the University of Detroit Mercy will host its second annual AJCU Day of Service. We are inviting alumni, faculty, staff and students to participate in a number of service opportunities. We will be cleaning up the campus athletic fields, sprucing up the Jesuit residence gardens and helping out with the area of greatest need in the surrounding neighborhood. Join University of Scranton alumni, parents, students and friends as they volunteer at Runners For Others: An Ignatian 5K run and walk at Patterson Park in Baltimore, Maryland. Volunteers will help with race setup, registration and cleanup. They may also participate in the run if desired. The race benefits Jesuit institutions in the Baltimore area. Dress comfortably!
